The FLADEN Deadbait Halibut Rig is a highly specialized rig for fishing with dead baitfish – ideal for large predators like halibut and trophy cod. With its brightly colored, eye-catching lead weight, a robust 12/0 single hook, and a strong 3/0 or 4/0 treble hook, this system is perfectly designed to withstand the high demands of deep water and strong currents.
Available in 300g, 400g, and 500g, the rig can be optimally adjusted to the specific water depth and drift speed. Perfect for fjords, steep drop-offs, and deep plateaus.
Optimal bait presentation (fluttering bait technique)
The dead baitfish is:
- Securely fixed at the head with the 12/0 single hook,
- Anchored in the rear flank with the treble hook.
For maximum attraction, the baitfish is also:
- cut on both sides from the tail to the front third,
- the backbone is broken three times.
This makes the bait extremely lifelike: The fillets thump in the water, the flesh flutters in the current – an irresistible lure for large predators.
