Please note that the swimming costume alone does not provide any guarantee of rescue. It serves as a buoyancy aid and protects against hypothermia. Depending on the water temperature, it delays the time until hypothermia occurs, thus creating a time buffer for the rescue. From a safety point of view, one-piece suits are to be preferred, as they do not allow the penetrating water to circulate. This means that the water is heated by body heat and thus forms an insulating layer. It is also recommended to wear suitable underwear. These suits will also protect you from the first cold shock when you fall in. The suits have a buoyancy force of 50N. An average person needs 20-30N to stay afloat. It is therefore more important to have a better fit than to choose the exact weight class.
